As of the 25th May 2018 companies based in the EU and companies trading within the EU will be expected to comply with New Data Protection Legislation called GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). The change in law is by far the most comprehensive change in Data Protection law since its inception and will affect every business that stores or processes personal data within the EU and companies trading within the EU. Each company will be expected to protect personal data it is holding or processing in a manner which is considered lawful under the Act.

There are a significant number of areas this new legislation affects and expands on existing Data Protection Legislation by including fines to companies who fail to protect personal data. This is not to be taken lightly and no doubt there will be a number of businesses who fail to prepare for the changes and incur penalty fines which can be up to 4% of global turnover.

Our aim is to introduce the new legislation into our technical and administrative framework by liaising with both customers and suppliers to support a seamless transition. As we conclude our internal audit over the coming weeks we will reach out to all concerned to ensure we offer compliant services by the time the law comes into effect and to provide additional services to enable our customers to achieve compliance.

Please check back to this page over the coming weeks as we update it with more information on GDPR.
